South Korea is a mecca for all things beauty, whether it is make-up, skin care, or hair. Chances are you’ve already seen the 7 step Korean scalp treatment being tested in vlogs. If you haven’t: just wait the algorithm will catch up soon. This was one of the top things we wanted to try while we were there. As modern Korean culture is all about K-pop and Beauty!
This was something that I initially put a little research in to find the best salon to go to. However, the search didn’t turn up any places that stood out. We then decided to keep an eye out around the Myeongdong Market to see if there was a local option. Alas while walking around (with very dirty hair) we stumbled upon a cute little salon that advertised scalp treatments.
The scalp treatment involved the usual brush and wash, a scalp steam, then a detoxing scalp treatment under plastic-wrap and heat, then a final treatment on the ends before the rinse. After the bulk of the treatment was finished, both our hair were styled nicely with heat tools and sprays. The total cost was about $200AUD for both of us. Which was a little steep in comparison to everything we got in the massage just down the road.
Overall Impression
Overall, the experience was lovely, but it wasn’t anything special for the cost. However, don’t let this be a deterrent for getting your hair professionally washed and styled on holiday, it is always nice to be pampered while away!
This was something that we had only seen in South Korea. However, now there are scalp spas popping up all over Queensland. Maybe, this won’t be a tourist attraction in the near future. But still, everything is more fun when you’re away from home.
