Hongdae

Hongdae is a one stop shop for all unique nightlife activities. There is an amalgamation of clothing stores, markets, bars, nightclubs, restaurants, food stalls, animal cafes, photo kiosks, buskers, and most importantly, chicken wings. Although most of these activities are open from midday, the vibrance that Hongdae has to offer is best seen at night. Pretty much all of the action stretches 1.3km on Eoulmadang-ro, and on the side streets running perpendicular.

What is the general demographic of people we encountered in Hongdae? This area is known for being a hangout spot for Korean university students, and we did see a fair few younger locals enjoying the atmosphere. However, we also saw businessmen enjoying fried chicken and getting a little bit tipsy on soju in beer, yes that right in the beer not with it. There were also many tourists there from all parts of the world, young and old. This is also a perfect place to bring kids for some nighttime fun, because what is better than street entertainers and 1ft tall ice-creams! So although this is known as a university night club area, it really is so much more, there really is something for everyone here.
